In-Lecture Exercise 1 (A)
The task was to design a device that can bolster our creativity and imagination. I designed a wearable device similar to that of a pair of glasses attached to special ear pods. Basically, this wearable device has the technological capabilities of helping artists and designers to capture unusual sounds and sceneries (views) that are of interest to them in a few seconds. These items will then be transmitted to the processor within the glasses. Through the processor, the user can utilize the captured images and sounds to generate new forms of artwork just by imagining it. Moreover, it also provides recommendations to the users to update the artwork when the user comes across a similar style of view/sight or sounds that may value-add to the artwork. This piece of artwork can then be transferred to a computer for further refinement and the rare sounds and images captured can also be stored into the computer. The accumulation of different sounds and images that may not be easily captured by the current technologies will help these artists and designers to craft better creative works. It can also enhance the level of authenticity as the artwork is curated based on the users' own experiences which are likely to be uniquely different from one another.
